Tips For Helping You Achieve Anything You Want In Life

Do you have a burning desire to achieve something?

Most of us do.

Whether you dream of conquering the skies as a pilot, diving into the depths of the ocean as a deep sea diver, becoming a highly paid freelancer, or learning 5 foreign languages, anything is possible if you have the right mindset.

Achieving anything you want in life definitely is not easy. You cannot expect it to be. You will have to put in the hard work but the reward at the end is so worth it.

Tip #1 – Focus on the Journey, Not the Destination

Of course, your goal is to arrive at the destination eventually, but that’s should not be all you focus on.

By focusing on the goal and ignoring the journey you will take all the fun out it and just get stressed about how and when you are going to get there.

Think about it as a trek to the top of a mountain. The main goal may be to get to the summit but if you hate the trek to the top, you are going to hate every step of the way. Trekkers enjoy the journey as well as the destination. That’s what creates memories.

Tip #2 – Celebrate Your Wins

For example, when you are just starting out as a freelance writer, you will find there is a steep learning curve.

Working online is so very different from working in a traditional office.

In addition to the technical know-how and collaborating with clients and coworkers who you cannot see face to face, working from home brings its own challenges.

Instead of getting frustrated at every obstacle accept that there will be difficulties and celebrate your little wins.

Remember, one step at a time, one bridge at a time.

Tip #3 – Maintain a Journal

Maintaining a journal or diary can be of invaluable help when you want to achieve anything you want in life.

There is no right or wrong way to write your journal.

You can keep a journal to make a list of skills you need to learn to master your business stream. For example, if your goal is to earn a full time income as a freelance writer, you need to learn the basics of online copywriting, how to get clients, how much to charge, how to write a pitch query and so much more. As you learn each skill, tick it off your list. Just seeing your to-do list dwindling can be hugely satisfying.

Tip #4 – Know When to Be Kind to Yourself

Don’t hate yourself when you fall down. It’s going to happen. Accept it. It is almost impossible for anybody to master new skills at the first attempt.

Be cool. Take a break, then step up and try again. Patience and persistence are key to achieving anything you want in life.

Tip #5 – Know When to Be Tough on Yourself

Being kind to yourself does not mean slacking off and taking endless breaks. You will have to be tough on yourself when you need to be.

How many hours do you spend on Facebook or reading celebrity gossip? More than one hour a day is too much.

If you know you’re not working as hard as you could be in order to achieve your goals, push yourself.

Tip #6 – You Must Take Action to Succeed

How much time do you spend a day on reading about how to achieve your goals and how much time do you spend actually implementing those steps?

The internet is a bottomless pit of information and you can go on reading forever but if you do not spend time taking action and implementing those steps, you aren’t going anywhere.

Experts suggest spending 20% of your time reading and 80% implementing. I agree.

The beauty of the 20:80 rule is that you will end up making more than a few mistakes but you will learn from them. Making and rectifying your own mistakes is the greatest teaching tool ever.

Tip #7 – Don’t Rely On Anybody Else

You shouldn’t rely too much on other people to help you achieve what you want to achieve in life. At the end of the day, you are accountable for your own actions and your own goals.

Think about it, if you don’t achieve your goals, nobody else is going to suffer because of it. You are the only one who has a vested interest in your goals.

If somebody else isn’t doing well or achieving their goals, don’t use this as an excuse to fall behind. You can still achieve everything you want without relying on other people.

Tip #8 – Don’t Compare Yourself to Other People

Goals that force you to try and become better than everybody else are never good goals to make.

Don’t compare yourself to other people. Comparisons can be a real killjoy. You will always find someone who is richer, taller, or more successful than you.

When you compare yourself to others, you will find that you cannot enjoy the journey because you are obsessed with the destination.

Chart your own course.

Set your own pace.

Focus on your own goals.

Dream your own dreams.

Tip #9 – Protect Yourself from Burning Out

When you work very hard, you put yourself at risk of burning yourself out. This is something that you should be aware of from the start and should seek to protect yourself from.

When your body and mind burns out, you won’t be able to achieve anything.

Make time to relax with family and friends.

Plan a quick getaway even if just for the weekend.

Spend time on your favorite hobbies.

Go for a walk or a swim. The physical activity will slow down those mental wheels that have been moving at top speed. They need the rest or else you will get burnt out.
